All the buzz at our house is for the Wiggles tomorrow night. It is actually the threat I have been using since Monday. If you don't brush your teeth, you can't go to the Wiggles. If you don't use your listening ears, you can't go to the Wiggles. The threat of all threats has been used on Chapman-Scott, though.
Chapman-Scott will be two on September 6. She is potty-training. She is female and she is my daughter. Enough said, right?
Yesterday, we got a note home from school that Chapman-Scott had not listened all day and that she had used the bathroom on the floor all day and would not use the potty...I guess since that is the only thing she really has control of (i.e. her bladder), she's using it to the fullest. So, here come the threats. Her teacher asked if we would talk to her. I did at school and told her that if she didn't use her listening ears and pee pee in the potty, she couldn't go to the Wiggles. She started to cry, said, "I sorry, Mommy" and sulked out of the room. Well, little did we know that Beau had been listening on the entire conversation to his own measly little delight! Used the threat all night to bully Chapman-Scott into whatever he wanted her to do. :)
Scott also talked with her and told her that if she didn't potty on the floor today, she would be M and M's but if she did, he was coming to school to spank her and she couldn't go to the Wiggles.
Only time will tell now...

Meet the Tarheels 2008
This weekend was a really fun weekend but exhausting. We all piled in the car to make the hour trek to Chapel Hill to Meet the Tarheel Football Team. We had to make a stop on Franklin Street to get Beau a jersey and try to find Chapman-Scott something to wear. No one told us it was move in day on Saturday. Sheesh...parents, students, kids...everywhere! It was a mess but we made it out alive with a jersey and football for Beau and a pom pom for CSB. Beau is now to the age that he doesn't like to hold our hands so getting across the street was nerve-racking (sp?). He is the "go ahead and try me" type of child who will do anything and everything! No fear for this Burnette!
We get to the stadium and have to walk a country mile to get there. Tired and winded and HOT HOT HOT, we get in this ridiculously long line just to get in the gate. Luckily for us, there were ice cream sandwiches waiting and the kids had a great time eating those. Give CSB something to eat and she's happy!
Down on the field, we got to play ball, get in jumpy things and meet the cheerleaders! The highlight of the evening was getting Beau's picture made with Ramses, the mascot. CSB cried and cried and wouldn't go near him - weenie! We had to leave before the players came out - Beau was tired and fussy and hot so we decided to cut our losses and know that next year we can go a little later!
You are probably yawning right now because this is so boring! BUT, the funniest thing happened on the way to the forum...er, I mean home. Scott bought the kids cotton candy (not a smart move there, Daddy) and they were wired! That red dye threw them for a loop! We only had one juice box left and told the kids to share. Beau wouldn't share with Chapman-Scott and she was whining and Beau was aggravating her by slurping the final drops remaining in the box. Scott, from the front seat of the car, driving, mind you, snatches the box out of Beau's hand to which Beau says:
"Daddy, I am really disappointed in you. I am mad at you and I am not going to let you smell my feet anymore!" I thought I was going to lose it. Scott was trying not to smile as well through his anger and frustration. Then he proceeded to tell Scott that his teacher, Mrs. Hughes, tells him to keep his hands to himself and that Scott didn't keep his hands to himself when he grabbed the juice box and touched Beau.
It was a pretty hilarious day! Next stop...third row at the Wiggles!

Olympic Fever
I had to add one more quip that I thought was pretty cute. I have to get a picture of it tonight to post.
Beau and Chapman-Scott have really enjoyed the Olympics. Well, I should say that Beau has enjoyed the Olympics and Chapman-Scott does whatever Beau does so in her own little world, she has enjoyed them as well. He has watched the swimming intently but in the past couple of nights has really gotten into the diving! He already loves to play "lifeguard" with his whistle (He is Brandon the lifeguard and CSB is Miss Virginia the lifeguard) and they make life preservers and rescue wayward swimmers from the water (i.e. me from the hardwood floors!) They even pretend they are swimming.
Back to the diving...last night, they were both standing on the mantle of the fireplace, putting their arms in an upward position and jumping off into the "water". Beau made me "grade" him (of course, he always got a 10!)
It is so wonderful to be part of such a wonderful event as the Olympics. I bet that those athletes have no clue how much influence they have on children across the world and how much of an inspiration they are for us old people!
Beau's last words as he jumped off the high dive for the last time was...Mommy, can I be like one of those divers...I answered that he could be anything he wanted to be. I hope he takes my advice!
The Wiggles Fiasco
So, I have become that mom I said I would never become...the mom who gets online at exactly 10:01 to get the best Wiggles tickets she can get. Yes, you heard me, the Wiggles. Those guys who I laughed and laughed at Parkie when Mason wanted his 2nd birthday to be the Wiggles. Not my kids...they won't like the Wiggles...I won't let them watch the Wiggles...yeah, right!
So, back to the story. I had my mom online as well getting some tickets and my partner said he wanted some for his grandchildren. Well, we succeeded in getting a grand total of 11 tickets. Pretty good, huh? All good seats, the kids were going to be insane (BTW - Beau is so excited to see Jeff sleeping, he can't stand it!) Well, my mom called yesterday and told me that her tickets fell through. Apparently, they didn't get processed so now we only have 4 tickets...I have 4 people in my family...so, that leaves Mike and his family out. So, I find 4 more tickets and they are on the FLOOR! Yes, you guessed it, Dorothy the Dinosaur may even be able to reach the roses the kids have already bought to give her. Let me just add that I had to pay a considerable sum for these tickets, but hey, I am that mom now, right?
